Drought of good titles on Blu-ray

I went to Best Buy yesterday to restock my HD disc collection. Normally my wife just orders the movies we want from Netflix but that doesn't leave me many demo discs thus I took myself to Best Buy to buy some back catalog titles.

I will say the organization of the HD DVD and Blu-ray discs were pretty good UNLIKE the old days of DVD-Audio and SACD where the discs were hidden with CDs and consumers had no chance to shop by format unless they went to Amazon and even that wasn't that good.

The thing that shocked me was how FEW Blu-ray titles I actually wanted to buy. It seemed like there were a number of crossover titles on both formats but the best blockbusters were on HD DVD. I know Spider-man 3 is coming (we already have it at the office) but beyond that - I already had most of the best movies and I only own maybe 20 Blu-ray discs so far.

I bought one Blu-ray and about 10 HD DVDs.

These formats need A LOT more top-notch titles to woo customers.

Yea they need to do day & date with DVD's to keep people happy, the drought is about over though, all the summer blockbusters will be out soon.

As for me, between Amazons buy one get one free & BB 2 for $30 Blu-Ray sale I just bought 20 Blu-Ray movies in the last week & when my BB restocks the ones they were sold out of I'll be getting some more!

I don't seem to be in the region that has the buy 1 get on free @ BB, and Amazon doesn't seem to have the deal you are talking of....

FWIW I have found Sony to be releasing new audio/copncerts in Blu-ray and susp[[ect this is why they have abandoned SACD in their players..

I have the Chris Botti that I rented for the wife, and saw the Dave Mathews @ CEDIA, and it was quite good.

Maybe this will be the start of MC audio in Blu-ray......

Yea I'm not seeing the Amazon deal on the site anymore (I'll let you guys know earlier next time), The BB sale was in the sale flyer in the Sunday paper & Here's a link to the sale at BB.com it only shows 8 there but there was more at my local store because I picked up the original Terminator on sale.

At least you folks have Netflix. Here in Canada I am using Zip.ca who has about two hundred Blu-Ray titles. After I rent the two dozen I want to see, my Samsung BD-P1200 may be used mainly for its Reon chip upconversion of DVDs.

wow i didnt realize that Netflix didnt service canada. It seems like they or blockbuster should expand into the great white north and stock up on Rush Chronicles DVDs.
