I don't think it's so much a drought in Blu-ray titles as a completely ineffective corporate buying program throughout the Best Buy chain. There are piles of titles that BB have chosen not to carry in their stores, nationwide, which gives the average consumer a very weak reflection of what is out and available. They do the same thing for HD DVD and standard DVD as well. If you didn't know it was out already, you'd never know it had hit the shelf. I've popped into a few stores and was surprised that title X or Y was out, when I stop by BB weekly and never see them.

Skip BB entirely, Amazon has them all for far less. I was just at both BB and CC today, they had maybe 100 titles of each, come on guys!

greg,
It's called live with orchestra and special guests, check the link above, you'll need to click 'releases' this MIGHT be Sony's new audio media as they seem to have dropped SACD lately despite their statements to the contrary... I guess it would make sense as the bit rate is better, but with Blu-ray, they seem to need video as well..

At my local Best Buy, it looked like there were only a small amount of Blu-ray and a ton of HD DVDs, but then I went around the corner and looked on the back side of the shelf and there were a TON of blu-ray discs. The problem is that they all seemed to suck compared to the HD DVD titles. Does anyone know who gets priority on having their discs displayed better? It seems like that could sway the public to one over the other. If all the HD DVDs are right there when you walk in the store, Id venture to guess that "newbies" would be more apt to ask about them.
I wonder how many people though buy either one thinking they will play on their DVD players? |
