Anyone else having fun with these new Discs?? I put the most current firmware into my Samsung BDP-1000 and it plays them, albeit slow to load, even after updating the firmware in my Sony BDP-S1 I still only occasionally get the disk to load and it takes like 5 minutes to do so.

I haven't tried the new disks, but I'm shocked that you're having trouble with your Sony Blu-ray player. Mine has been flawless thus far. The Samsung issues don't surprise me. Are the new disks worth it?

I did get them to work finally, but it's tough. Sometimes you need to eject them and try over (this is of course after updating the Sony to v1.6 firmware) as it would do nothing without it, the Samsung also didn't do anything until I put in the latest firmware but seems to do well with them after.
Yes, they are worth it! Possibly some of the best Blu-ray titles I've seen to date, if you can deal with the quirks of getting them going, they have truly awe inspiring video. I haven't tried the games on them yet... got to go do some doctoring here in a few minutes or I'd try them out now. I guess this shouldn't surprise me, the DVD release of Pirates also caused lots of problems with older players...... Ken |

Bill Warren is trying to get it to play in his Samsung BDP-1000 and I have been told he needs yet another firmware update to make the Java featuers work right on that first generation player.
Has anyone had success with this yet? |

Jerry,
Once I downloaded and installed the most current firmware from the Samsung website; http://product.samsung.com/bluray/bdp1000upgrade.html the discs work perfectly on my BDP-1000. Ken |

We just downloaded the firmware update for Bill Warren and sent it to him via messanger. It will be a good test to see how easy the upgrade is for the non-enthusiast (gear that is).
I hear there are mixed results with the upgrade. Personally, I ditched the player for the Sony which I hear has better results. I don't have the disc (Bill does and they didn't give them out at the press event last week???) so I coudlnt test it in my theater last night... More news at 11... j |
