Queen in High Definition!
Eagle Rock Entertainment has announced that they will bring a Queen concert from 1981 in Montreal to Blu-ray this November called 'Queen Rock Montreal'. No specs for the release have been announced at this time, but the concert (originally titled and released as 'We Will Rock You' in 1983) will be remastered from the original 35mm print.
This is an incredible performance that was originally filmed for IMAX and features the late, great Freddie Mercury at the top of his game. Freddie Mercury in HD & uncompressed audio! This will be a must have! Track listing: 01. Intro 02. We Will Rock You (fast) 03. Let Me Entertain You 04. Play The Game 05. Somebody To Love 06. Killer Queen 07. I'm In Love With My Car 08. Re: Queen in High Definition!
I heard somebody else had some success selling Queen in HD audio!!!!
I would love to see a record label jump into the HD disc game with 50 to 100 great concert performances on one of the formats. Not 5 or 6. 100 titles. People's tastes are too varried and you need to want them to buy the whole lot of discs not just one and done. It would be HUGE |
Re: Queen in High Definition!
I agree. This is what I`m talking about. I would love to see my artists in live concert on HD. Who wouldn`t?
But will it happen?? |
Re: Queen in High Definition!
Apparently this concert will be released on October 30th, in both HD-DVD and Blu-ray... and will also include:
• Brand new audio commentary by Brian May and Roger Taylor • The full Queen "Live Aid" performance • Never-before-seen full performance footage of Queen rehearsing for Live Aid: Bohemian Rhapsody + Radio Gaga + Hammer To Fall • Previously unreleased Live Aid interview with the whole band • 1982 news feature from US TV series PM Magazine • “Before & After” restoration comparison • Weblink to microsite Eagle Rock Entertainment The Montreal concert is presented in high definition, while the Live Aid and all bonus materials will remain in standard definition. This is EXACTLY what I believe all major labels should be doing with their "back catalog" of music-only recordings... "re-storing" them into Hi-Rez fidelity, plus adding a bunch of "collectible" extras! Party on. DD |
Re: Queen in High Definition!
I agree - this is a SMART release.
My only problem is you need a WHOLE CATLOG of releases to have any cred with consumers. DTS did well with their CDs but could only go so far. Audiophile labels have no star power. This needs to be done by the majors and in VOLUME!!!! |
