Neil Young goes Blu!
 

Check it out folks, Neil Young is going to release his entire catalog on Blu-ray with all kinds of added goodies. Hopefully this sort of thing will catch on and we will have a 'new' high def audio format as well in these new discs!

One of the features of this release that was shown in the video is the ability to add content. Neil describes this as "in case we forgot something" it will automatically be added. Does anybody out there understand how content can be added? The disks are read-only aren't they? Is this a feature that is only supported on PS3 (PS3 has a hard drive)?

Yes, I can see how this will be of use, but I still feel it is unnecessary for movies, I mean, for most of us all it will do is allow the studios to show us newer trailers.....

The BD-live feature will allow users to access additional content via the internet. Naturally in order to take advantage of this, you will need to have an internet connection. The feature is supported on any profile 2.0 (BD live) capable player. Although the PS3 is currently the only such player available, others will be released soon, Panasonic later this month (http://www.avrevforum.com/showthread.php?t=1906) and Sony shortly thereafter.

I believe Neil Young is releasing his long-awaited Archive series on BD, but I've not seen anything that indicated catalog albums. Can anybody point me to where it says that?

I REALLY would like to see that to happen since I'm not going to get any more DVD-A issues from him. But I'm not getting excited until I see where it is for sure happening...

In the meantime, big praise for Steve Wilson for keeping the DVD-A flag waving with the recent Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun CD/DVD-A pkg and more recently the new No-Man - Schoolyard Ghosts CD/DVD-A package. These are superb releases that deserve your support.
