Thanks but I'm already subscribed; all I wanted was show me where it is written. I don't recall any of the press releases going beyond the Archive release and mentioning catalog releases. Is Jerry's article the *only* place where this leap of faith occured? The Blu mockups of catalog albums are certainly cute but not anything approaching reality as yet. |

Okay I've scanned the press releases and they all include this phrase:
"Neil Young plans to release his entire music ARCHIVE on Blu-ray..." This is not the same as releasing catalog albums in Blu Ray; Jerry and I would be in agreement that we'd love to see this happen with Neil and many other artists. But until it is actually announced as such, this is still in the wishful thinking department.... |

Neil Young’s much-delayed "Archives" project looks likely to finally get released on November 3. "Archives Volume One 1963-1972" will be released as a 10-disc Blu-Ray and DVD collection and is expected to feature previously released live sets including "Live At Massey Hall", from 1971, and "Live At The Fillmore East", from 1970, as well as never released studio tracks, demos and artwork.
Meanwhile, Young is also apparently due to release "Sugar Mountain" on September 29. Exact details of what this album will contain are unconfirmed, but it’s widely presumed to be another set of vintage live material. A bootleg album, "Live On Sugar Mountain", recorded at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles on the last night of Neil Young's early-1971 solo tour, has long been in circulation, and it’s likely the material for this official release may well be drawn from that show. http://www.uncut.co.uk/news/neil_young/news/12014 |

We're pretty sure we speak for music / Blu-ray fans everywhere when we say: "What?" At the JavaOne Conference in San Francisco earlier this year, one of the main news bits to emerge from the show was that Neil Young's entire music archive was going to be released in Blu-ray form. In fact, it was even stressed that BD interactivity would give purchasers the ability to download more songs, photos and tour information via their internet-connected decks. Now, we're hearing that the Archives Volume 1 (1963 - 1972) is being relegated to DVD only, and even the DVD collection is being delayed from November 3rd to "sometime in 2009." Of course, there's still time for Reprise to change its mind and appease all the Blu-ray lovers out in the crowd, but we aren't feeling too optimistic about the possible change of heart.

That's a damn shame if they do kill the Blu-Ray version!
I was hoping something like this would just be the start! |
