Netflix vs. Blockbuster.com for Blu-ray titles

I was very pleased a couple of months ago when Netflix announced that they would dramatically increase their BD inventory.
"Netflix will add as many as 1,500 Blu-ray titles to its existing 400 titles this year, as customers ditch Toshiba’s discontinued HD DVD format and converge onto a Sony’s Blu-ray format." http://www.videobusiness.com/index.a...dustryid=47213
However, so far I haven't seen much sign of this. In fact, even the titles that they carry are seldom available "now". All of the BD titles in my queue say "long wait" or at best "short wait". What gives?
Does anyone use Blockbuster.com? I wonder if they are any better?

I havent' used BB, but have pretty good luck with Netflix, even when they say long wait, it usually comes pretty quickly, especially if it's at the top of your queue.

I have used both and it is the same problem they don't have enought copies of movies in blu ray yet.

If the demand increases then it will become much better, Blu Ray is still very marginal compared to DVD, remember the time when VHS ruled and DVDs where a curiosity!!

wes, what do you mean that bluray is marginal over dvd? there is a huge difference. get a good movie, and play it on a nice 1080p tv, and there is nothing close to it. if you can't see the difference, something is wrong with your gear.

I would assume what Wes meant, is that Blu-Ray is still only a very small percentage of overall movie rentals and sales.

It is unfortunate to see, but the fault really lies with the Blu-Ray association for not being more aggressive in keeping costs down so that they can compete with DVD. They may have beaten HD DVD, but the biggest battle by far is to unseat standard DVD and for the non-videophile, paying $10-$15 more per movie (which in turn raises rental fees) is not going to get the job done.

It will be interesting to see if Blockbuster eventually does the same.
