One more nail in the HD DVD coffin......

I think their time is up, and it is a bitter sweet ending. I started firmly in favor of Blu-ray, but HD DVD actually won me over with the better player functionality and the HD XA2 is one amazing player for upscaling SD DVD's. I guess soon it will be a doorstop.

If you are like me you can just pick up some super cheap great quality movies once there is a true clearance with these. I'm always on the losing end of technology,for instance, I owned over 200 Laser Discs (it was the best format for years) but more so with when I bought the 3DO gaming system for $800.00 or the worst, the Philips CDi I bought for $600.00 only to later pay an additional 250.00 for the digital video playback add on cartridge to play MPEG 1 video CDs. And more recently DVD Audio and SACD.

Don’t forget that just last week, Netflix announced that once there was a clear winner in the format war, they would consider charging more for HDM rentals.

Everywhere I turn, I see a Blu-ray victory leading to increasing prices.

I don't know if netflix will do that, I have had a membership with them for so long I still have four discs at a time (read six with appropriate 'late' reporting) They have actually cut my price over the years! If I had to pay an extra dollar or two a month it wouldn't phase me much.
