Problems with new David Gilmour Blu-ray
Is anyone experiencing problems with the Dobly True HD audio track of the new David Gilmour concert Blu-ray disk?
I have the new Panasonic DMP-BD30K feeding my Denon 3808ci receiver with the audio set to bitstream. It plays the 2 channel uncompressed PCM just fine. When I try to play the Dolby True HD track, the Denon receiver displays "Dial. Norm/Offset - 2dB" and nothing comes out of the left front channel. It does however display "Dolby TrueHD" as well, so it is recognizing the correct format. It says in the Denon manual the "dialog normalization function" is automatically engaged for Dolby sources. I have tried everying to defeat it, but it still engages. I have the Dave Mathews Blu-ray and it plays both the 2 channel PCM and the Dolby True HD tracks flawlessly. There is no dialog normalization message, but it is hard to tell if it is related. I suspect I'm "bleeding on the edge" a little here. |

Yes, you are on the bleeding edge :) Kennyt how about you? This is, however, the type of trouble that keeps me from going all out early with Blu-Ray. House of Flying Daggers is great though!

I don't have the Pannie player yet, but sounds to me like you have a bad disc, try another copy and see if you still have the same issue.

Right now? No, but we'll see what comes out @ CES, maybe I will then!

FYI...
This problem went away when I updated the firmware on my Panasonic player and Denon receiver. Who knows which one fixed the problem. |
