Spider-Man 3 Breaks Sales Records
http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6498744.html
Spider-man 3 broke the record for first week Blu-ray disc sales with 130,000 discs sold. The previous record was held by the Bond film, Casino Royale with a mere 40,000 titles. The Spidey record is only for Blu-ray in that Transformers on the competing HD DVD title sold 190,000 titles in its first week in mid-October. The surge in sales of premium titles for both formats shows the format war will likely never end thus ending like Playstation, XBox and Nintendo's Wii in a multi-format result. |

Here's a quote from the story you linked to, "On the HD DVD side, Paramount Home Entertainment touted selling 190,000 HD DVD units of Transformers in the week after its Oct. 16 bow. Many industry sources wound up disputing that figure, however, believing it was actually tens of thousands lower." |
Re: Spider-Man 3 Breaks Sales Records
It's all about numbers. Someone out there will probably come out with some numbers reporting that Spider-man 3 on Blu-ray was actually 10s of thousands lower. I still make my stand that it is the players that are more important, at least at this point in time.

Re: Spider-Man 3 Breaks Sales Records
I recently bought SM3 on Blu-ray and while the video and audio was impressive sadly the film was TERRIBLE. I missed SM3 in theaters hence my outright purchase of it on Blu-ray, had I known what a turd of a film it was I probably wouldn't have bought it. Not to mention it takes FOREVER to load. OMG, it truly is painful. I really wish companies would back off the trick menus a bit so I can get to the film faster. Good looking disc though. Picture quality is great esspecially when played back with a 120Hz MotionFlow capable set.

Re: Spider-Man 3 Breaks Sales Records
I`m considering the trilogy, since my son only has Spidey 2. I also missed Spidey 3 in theaters.
I understand from the way it ended, there is room for Spidey 4. Is that so guys? |
Re: Spider-Man 3 Breaks Sales Records
I think there's always room for some form of a sequel no matter how a movie ends. Well, at least Hollywood Studios see it that way. There were plenty of times when a sequel is released and I ask myself, how? Doesn't stop them though.
I believe that a script outline is in the works for Spidey 4. However, it is undecided whether Sam Raimi will come back to direct. Also, Tobey McGuire and Kirsten Dunst are not on the hook to come back. Basically they have all commented that they will not come back unless all three of them can work together again. So we'll see. |
