Default 720p tv picture on blue ray player?

What type of improvement should I see from a regular dvd or upconversion player to a Blue ray disk player on a 720p 42"tv?

Over a SD DVD, I assume? Should be quite a bit.

Even though you won't be getting the full resolution it's still double the resolution of SD DVD's (even upconverted it's just 480 upconverted) so yes you'll see a noticeable improvement.

Hey
Blu-Ray players and discs add up to a lot of money, but the improvement from 480i (Standard TV) to 720p is amazing.
If you have a 1080p/i TV, Blu Ray is a must have. 720p is also pretty high definition. It just depends on if you are willing to pay for the HD.P.S. PS3s do a fantastic job making standard DVDs look good on bigger screens. I have one my self and don't use the Xbox to play regular DVDs anymore. You also have the option of BluRay and games with the PS3.

I have a Panasonic BD35 and my Panasonic PX80U scales the 1080p to 720p (it's actually a 768 panel) and it looks spectacular - wayyy better than my old SD, yet upconverting player.
