OPPO BDP-83 Bluray player

sorry for confusing some people, my positive and negative comments were about the D2v, not the Oppo.

Regarding the processing, the D2v uses the latest Sigma Designs VXP solution and can have up to 4 configurations for easy switching, the Oppo uses the Anchor Bay VRS solution similar to the 983. I've done the A/B comparison and I think the D2v does a better job across the board than the Oppo, however, the Oppo is still very very good.

* Plays every disc I put in it -- BR, DVD, CD, SACD, DVD-A, HDCD
* $499 - extremely low price, but don't think for a minute this is a "cheap" disc player
* One of the best remotes I've seen lately, and it is backlit
* Best bang for the buck in my system that includes Esoteric, Levinson and Lexicon

haha, you've sold me on this one. Still going to check out more reviews though. is there anything i can compare this to? as i want to make sure properly.

Sorry for posting this because it's probably noted somewhere in the 8 pages before this, though I'm unable to find it.

I'd appreciate it greatly if someone could let me know the price of this OPPO BDP-83 Bluray player.



Also,as a newbie, what are the difference in this player has as comparted to the Sony/Samsung Blu-Ray players available that are similar to this??

Is it the price,the quality,the options,etc.????

Feature-wise, there is nothing comparable. Most of us here, I think, are primarily concerned with it's ability to play SACD and DVD-A's. No other blu-ray does this. As long as the video output is reasonable, we could care less about other blu-rays. Just get it!
