Got the BDP-83 yesterday, put it in my rack, connected it to my Lexicon via analog outs and started it up.
The set p process is quick and easy. The Oppo comes with the Spears & Munsil High Definition Benchmark calibration disc so some time will need to be dedicated to the advanced settings. Since I have the Oppo DV-983H, the picture quality for Blu-Ray is as good as I expected. DTS-MA and Dolby-HD is superb. I spent the little time I've had with Blu-Ray discs. Can't wait to A-B with the Esoteric on SACD and DVD-A. |

This is the best $500.00 piece of equipment I have ever owned...I have had the priviledge of being a test guinea pig for OPPO since 4/7/09 and after 3 firmware downloads, this player is ready for the public...Universal player(DVD-A,SACDand SD-DVD Up Conversion) and not to mention the amazing Blu-Ray picture and ALL of the new 7.1 Codecs...This is an amazing player...But OPPO has always done things correct vs. many of these companies....Mike Moore

The loading speed is very fast.....less than 10 seconds
