Wal-Mart is selling the Magnavox NB500MG9 blu-ray player for $128 on Black Friday. It doesn't handle interactive features, but Consumer Reports gave it a high score in their "Blu-ray roundup". Not too shabby.

Default Oppo will release the BDP-83 blu ray player between November 08 and February 09

They are not providing much info but the quality should be outstnding if only looking at previous players from Oppo

I just hope Oppo doesn't get greedy and charge $999 but instead $499 a lot easier to compete especially when you can pick-up Sony BDP-S550 or Panasonic BD-55K for $329 on Amazon

As far as the Oppo goes, lets just wait and see what its all about when it becomes available. Then, we`ll know what we need to know at that time.

Speaking for myself, I am willing to pay an extra $100 to get a good blu-ray player to view my movies. The price of the player seems less important now that they are all coming down. The real problem is the price of the disks. I know you can get a good discount at Amazon.com ect. but every once in a while you want to just walk into Bestbuy and purchase a movie.
I am also disappointed that it is taking so long for some of my favorite movies to come out on Blu-ray. I know some people think I am a sucker but I still want my favorites in the best format available.( Braveheart for one).
