I'm in a hunt for a new player. Can you give more information about this? I found a the same Panasonic DMP-BD55 in another forum and they sell for a cheaper price. If I remember correctly it's around $379. I'm willing to reconsider though. Anybody here can give more info about this? thanks a lot.

I wonder how it compares in performance with the Oppo Blu-Ray Player.

This model has already been discontinued, replaced by the BD60.
In this price range (around $250, half the price of the Oppo), you might also consider the Sammy BDP-1600 which received a somewhat better review from CNET. The 1600 has Netflix streaming instead of Amazon VOD, which might be another consideration. http://reviews.cnet.com/video-player...-33561693.html http://reviews.cnet.com/video-player...-33490457.html |

The CNET review says that it is a "entry level player that replaces the BD35" |

Excellent image quality on Blu-ray movies; Wi-Fi USB dongle included; Netflix and Pandora streaming; superfast operational speed and disc loading; Profile 2.0 compatible; onboard decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio; 7.1 analog outputs; 1GB onboard memory; streams media off connected PC. The Samsung BD-P3600 is a huge leap ahead for standalone Blu-ray players, with blazing-fast operational speed, tons of features, and excellent image quality. http://reviews.cnet.com/video-player...?tag=mncol;lst Last edited by rex; 05-24-2009 at 12:36 AM.. |
