I don`t know if the reason behind it, is really important. If after handing out my card its $199.98, that is it then. Good pricing for those who need a player.

It was bound to happen, sooner or later. And hey, who knows how good the (presumed) Oppo BluRay player may be at $99.95 US MSRP (perhaps)?

No doubt. However a "sale," isn't BD dropping below $200. It's a sale. They end. The Radio Shack sale ends this Saturday. Amazon is hoping their stock doesn't last longer than that too.

Oppo has said the player won't be below $200. Knowing how much the parts cost, we're probably looking at $299 or $349. It's also supposed to be a 2.0 player, thus it won't be "cheap," but for a 2.0 player it will be a steal.

Just you wait . . . to make a $299.00 product available, a company must be able to sell it (there cost) for 1/4 = $74.99, and that spells Wall Mart and Target, to name but a few . . . and the future of BD in the coming year (or two).

True, but Oppo has no middle man. The cost of it all is near $200 right now. So $299 or $349 or even $399 is closer to the mark.
