NEC Produces BD-Live Compatible Single Chips For Blu-ray Players
NEC has begun production of the EMMA3P System on a Chip for Blu-ray players. The single chip will include all the capabilities of current player Blu-ray players plus compatibility for the BD-Live profile. The one chip solution will enable USB and Ethernet controls, h.264/VC-1/MPEG-2 compression handling, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and DivX. This may be the hope that consumers need for cheaper and more featured-packed Blu-ray players in the near future. Panasonic followed closely with their announcement of the UniPhier single-processor.
