We'll see but it is about time for stand alone players to close the convenience gap between Blu-ray and SD DVD.

As for HD DVD players, I still use my Toshiba HD XA2 for SD DVD playback. That thing is a smoking good scaler of SD DVD's, to date the best I've seen, FWIW the Denon AVP seemed to scale equally well.

Was just at Panasonics website and did not even see the BD50. I saw the BD30 but not the 50, has anyone actually seen the BD50 on Panasonics website? I want to pick up the BD30K as my new receiver will do all the decoding. But I am wondering if the BD50 would make a better transport than the 30? I am guessing that I would be better off with the BD30K.

That is what I am thinking too, I suspect the addition of price is sheerly for the analog output, which you won't need if using it as a transport.

No, the BD50 is profile 2.0 and decodes all the new codec where as the 30 does not ave either functions.
