Your previous "knowledge" about things proves you are just guessing, it was you that said the studios didn't care about the greater software sales of the Blu-ray movies they only cared about the number of standalone players & that the PS3 wouldn't effect the war only stand alones.

I'm guessing that with 11 Chinese manufactures building Blu-Ray players that we will have $100-$200 players by Christmas.
With the injection of huge numbers of new buyers the prices of media will hopefully drop as well.

You are delusional if you think that. The 3 we know about are priced at $250 and aren't 2.0 units. How that means $100 players by Christmas is just insane. They have no reason to price them that low. They have no competition.

Your further delusions now also seems to appear to be revisionist history.

FACT: BD Standalone players sold extremely well during the X-Mas season, and according to WB was the deciding factor for them. They said it. They didn't say it was the PS3. They didn't say it was the software sales (because the software sales WEREN'T there, if it was based on software we'd all be talking about HD-DVD today). They said it was the stand alone player sales.

Again we know of 3 BD players from China and price points, and they are 1.1 units and $250. How that means a $100 to $200 player by Christmas is crazy talk.

We may see 2.0 units at $300 this christmas. That btw is a crime.

Well we can all speculate all, we want let's see what the future bring I will take half of the Panasonic BDP-50 at $699!!!

Sony will already take it by $200 with the Sony Blu Ray player 550 at $500! So I would predict that the Chinese manufacturer could go under that by how much who knows and who cares! Speculations, Ah those bubbles, Internet, Stock market, Housing.. May be gasoline will reach $200 a barrel at the same time Blu Ray player arrive at that price!!

While I don't care enough to go back & look for it I think WB did state the PS3 was a factor in it's decision to go Blu.

Anyway, the "3 we know about now" don't really matter much in your argument since there are 8 more "we" don't know about & Christmas is still 7 months away!
The $100-$200 will most likely be 1.1 players since J6P probably doesn't care about online connectivity & will get firmware updates from the Blu-Ray movies themselves.
& since I'm calling my predictions guesses I can be as delusional as I Damn well please!
It's not as if I'm presenting them as facts like some people!
I think more of my guesses have been proved right than your "facts" have anyway!

For me you won't see a Chinese name brand player in my house & I will get 2.0, not for the connectivity (but getting new trailers will be nice) it's because with the PS3 I'm used to getting my firmware updates online & I think the ethernet port makes it more future proof.

Say what you will but HD-DVD being gone has HURT consumers. There isn't a huge wave of more movies being released on BD, and prices are quite honestly outragious. If HD-DVD was still around, BD would still just lack 2 studios, and their prices would be a lot more competitive.

The Chinese manufacturers have no plans of low priced players to my knowledge. I've been hearing $300 or so for them. Which is no where near where they would be if HD-DVD was around.

To all the people that thought 2 formats was bad, how much better are we now? It sure doesn't look that good.

I'm not sure about 2.0 players by Christmas either. The Magnavox at Walmart is the cheapest non-PC BD player out at 298.00. Insigna (BB) is now selling its 1.1 profile intro player at $349 (no 5.1 analog outs, it will bitstream and it does decode TrueHD). $50 more dollars you could have a PS3. Seems that no one wants to leave that precious 300+ price point...yet.

Christmas will be interesting...Father's Days should give us some early indications on which way prices are headed. I'm already set, 2.0, Analog outs yada, yada, yada... not worried what happens. I'm standing pat.
