Default Panasonic DMP-BD50 lacks adequate memory?!

The $700 BD50 "lacks the minimum 1GB of onboard memory required for BD-Live" and instead you will have to purchase an SD card to use the player's SD card slot. The lack of sufficient on-board storage is very surprising considering the player's price tag and the fact that Sony's upcoming BD-Live player, the BDP-S550 will retail for $500 USD and have 1GB on-board storage.

OK, I see the point, but when an SD card of 1G can be had for ~$16, is this a real issue? You are correct in pointing out the player should have had it, but I must argue the BD-Live is something most, if not all of us will never or only rarely use.

With a MSRP of $699 for the BDP50, the Sony S550 definitely looks like it will be worth waiting for.
