Default Samsung bd -up5000

Purchased my Samsung bd -up5000 3 weeks ago. I can not play the blue ray version of No Country For Old Men. I have tried to download the latest firmware and the player will not recognize the disc ( I tried this 3 times with 2 different computers Mac and Windows). I also tried connecting to the internet directly to the player and was not able to connect. Can Samsung send me the firmware???

Usually the company will send you a hard copy if you contact them, at least SOny and Toshiba have for many.

As for that film, maybe your player is just not interested in wasting your time on it! The movie is lame, with the exception of the air gun, it's pointless and boring..... Just my 0.02...

I had the exact same problem w/ my HD-A2. Toshiba sent me a disc with the current F/W update on it w/in ~ 3 - 5 days from my original phone call, and I did not have to pay for the disc or shipping.

If you purchased the player less than 30 days ago, most retailers will allow you to return it. That might be your best bet, given all of the terrible reviews and numerous problems reported with this player. Don't expect Samsung to provide much support now that it has been discontinued. (You might want to take a look at the new Panasonic DMP-BD50, which looks very promising.)
