A quick update for you all,
I got my second Samsung BDP-120 yesterday, on my Sony KDS 70 XBR2 TV I still have the same problem when run through my HDMI switcher and signal amplifier. It seems there is a compatability issue with my HDMI signal amplifier, the player is fine when connected directly to the TV. Ironically it works perfectly if after getting the purple screen I go to the HDMI setup in the players menu and switch the type from TV to Monitor or vice versa. Kind of a PITA but I can get around it. As for the wife and kids... this is a deal breaker so it's going back, I'll keep the Sony BDP-S1 in that system for now until something better comes along.

i have the BD-P 1200 it plays extremely well. it does seem to have issues, from time to time it has very abrupt changes between scenes, it has a few problems maintaining level audio output, after reading your posts i am a little reluctant to do the software upgrades. any help here?

Once I figured out my HDMI amplifier was the problem mine has functioned perfectly with the exception of not liking one rented Blu-ray disc that was pretty heavily scratched up.

tell me ken, how did you come to that conclusion, because it makes perfect sense, once you discovered the problem, how did you get it fixed, thanks in advance. mark
