I currently have the PS3, one day after the format war is over I will probably get a standalone if it has more features & plays better than my PS3.

I had a ps3 sold it and got sony bdp.s1es blue ray player it plays cd and dtsHD master
5.1 analog. I think it is a fantastic player a lot better than the ps3 especially for sound quality. Thanks

. System meridian G68j 598dvd, 2 557, 1 556 power amps, m33center, Sony blue ray bdps1es, Sony pearl 1080p projector. Grndview cyber series 16.9 8-foot electric screen. Panasonic 42in 1080p plasma TV. Front Dali helicon 400, Dali in wall back speakers, Snell ps10sub, Chord signature cables all round. X-box 360HD add on. And ISOTEK power supply and cables. Just curious kennyt, since you are probably in the best position to know this, of the different Blu-Rays you have had, which seems to be the best one in terms of picture quality and useful feature set?

Or, are there really not many differences at all betwween say, a Samsung or Sony. Or a Pioneer.

And J.J. you are right. While I came close to getting a Toshiba HD DVD player, the investment in money and source material, must be considered. We need a true "universal player," that will play ALL formats, including HD DVD and Blu - Ray, SACD/DVD - A, with both formats most beneficial features.
