I have a Toshiba HD-XA2, Samsung BDP-1000 and 1200, Sony BDP-S1 and had the Toshiba HD-XA1. No PS3 yet though the price drop makes it appealing.

I have a Sony Blu-ray player, a PS3 and a Toshbiba XA1. I need to upgrade the XA1.
I have owned the Samsung BDP-1 and the Panasonic Blu-ray.

I just ordered the PS3 because of the price break. I look at it as a trial run. When the format war is over (if ever) and all capabilities are utilized I will buy into a high end stand alone player. For now, the PS3 is still better than anything before it and even if BlueRay loses you will still have one hell of a gaming console.
I am also betting that there will be excellent Hybrid PC's that will offer BR and HD-DVD players/recorders as well as music/movie servers that hopefully are reliable enough and look good enough to add to your entertainment center in the family room. An all-in-one box. We can only hope!!! |

That is why people are afraid to jump into any format war. If you already have to upgrade and you already had to buy into both formats that is a lot of investment. You get stuck with 1080P players that only output 1080i and the secondary functions don't work and you may have expensive paper wieghts. The average guy can't afford it!! |
