Sony Playstation 3 sales up 300%!
It looks like the price drop & the introduction of the 40G PS3 has got more people buying the Video game & Blu-Ray playing consoles. "According to an Associated Press report, Sony sold 100,000 PS3s in the US in the week ending 11 November, up from around 30,000 to 40,000 consoles a week in the run up to the $100 reduction in the price of the 80GB console on 18 October." |

After the beating they took in September and October they better hope so.
In October the official numbers were 366,000 360s sold to 121,000 PS3s for the entire month. 30k to 40k a week seems about right so they really needed the increase. Especially after the September or Halo 3 Month. Then again Mass Effect is coming out now, and it may move some consoles too. |

When Metal Gear Solid 4 & Gran Turismo 5 hit those titles will sell as many if not more consoles than Halo did. The good games are starting to be released & with the price drops the PS3 sales will be great this holiday season. |

Everyone in the console industry is expecting a 360 Christmas in Software. A Wii Christmas in Hardware (with 360 in 2nd). Mass Effect comes out on the 360 and it's a software title that has been called "the most waited for title of 2007," over Halo 3 by magazines, etc. So I fully expect that title will drive some hardware sales itself. Still Sony needs that 300% increase because they're in third place, which is something they aren't used to. Problem is there doesn't appear to be any reason to believe that will change. The Wii may very well become number 1 in total sales. The 360 is still outpacing the PS3 though. The XBOX was never number 1. So this is a totally new environment. |
