I have a new Panasonic DMP-BD30K (Blue-ray) and Toshiba HD-A20 (HD-DVD) feeding a Denon 3808ci receiver via HDMI. I'm using the preamp of the 3808 feeding an external amp.
It works flawlessly with both players for me. The Panasonic Blueray player passes all of the latest HD sound formats through the HDMI 1.3 perfectly. It sounds and looks great. The Toshiba player decodes DolbyHD internally and passes it throught the HDMI, but not as a bitstream. To clarify a prior posting, the DENON receiver displays "Multi channel PCM", because the Dolby TrueHD is being decoded to PCM in the player. |
