Re: Snubs, complaints and hate-mail about the top 100 albums list

Stones SACD of the ENGLISH " AFTERMATH " is great and right up there and GREAT MUSIC , ALSO the SACD of " Between the Buttons" is good. "Begger's B." and "STONES NOW" might have some the the bands best work . Everyone should also check them out . Then you can go back and see why John Lennon said "Brian Jones was the heart and soul and the leader of the stones".

I can't believe the judges didn't pick Who's Next as part of the top 100 rock albums of all time. Top 5 for sure. Agree about the Rolling Stones being over rated.

Took me long enough, but here we go...
Had several arguments with myself...

1. Supertramp - Crime of the Century
2. The Clash - London Calling
3. Nirvana - Never Mind
4. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
5. Talking Heads - Remain in Light
6. Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks
7. Patti Smith - Horses
8. Prince - 1999
9. B-52's - The B-52's
10. The Pretenders - The Pretenders

Probably be different tomorrow but... just had to get it down...

Most people list their personal "favorites" as"the best" albums of all-time. And when I filled out this Top 100 Ranking, I also listed several albums that were long-time favorites... but they are not really "better" albums than The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.

Back in the day, I wore out several copies of Buffalo Springfield - Again... but it's certainly not as refined as the recordings that Stills and Young have made since.

And I once saw Gino Vannelli live, and his voice was beyond spectacular... but his albums were not on a par with Sgt. Pepper and Zep II.

The one low-scoring recording that I still believe to be Top 20 legend, is Chicago Transit Authority. This double-album literally launched a whole new genre of "big band" rock... and Terry Kath was a major contributor to the "fuzz guitar" technology that we now take for granted.

Re: How many would you buy if re-mastered in 24/96?

I would buy 90% of these records on 24/96.

I am hoping Music Giants will have them.

Re: Top 100 albums list released!

The albums are pouring into the office and the stack of CDs that someone is going to win is IMPRESSIVE. Make sure you get your entry in now.
