Default Weird but smart venue for debuting music - QVC

Two-time Grammy Award-winning artist LeAnn Rimes will be giving fans a sneak peek of her much-anticipated release Familywith a special live performance on QVC on September 15 at 4 p.m. Viewers will not only be the first to hear the new songs from the album but also be the first to pre-order the album three weeks before it hits stores.
LeAnn Rimes has been mesmerizing audiences with her soulful voice and textured lyrics since she exploded onto the music scene at the age of 14. Now, over a decade later with more than 20 industry awards, including the “Artist of the Year” Grammy, and a dozen albums, the Southern-born songstress will once again be exciting fans when she makes her QVC debut on Saturday, September 15 at 4 PM (ET).

Broadcasting live from Rising Sun, IN, QVC Presents Q Sessions Live Featuring LeAnn Rimes will give viewers a sneak peek of Rimes’ much-anticipated new album Family, three weeks before its scheduled release. QVC shoppers will also have the opportunity to purchase Family with a bonus CD, created especially for QVC.

“LeAnn Rimes is one of the most talented and well-respected young artists in music today,” said Rich Yoegel, director of merchandising for QVC. “We are excited to offer our viewers this special performance and the opportunity to hear songs from the new album nearly a month before its release date.”

Rimes made her country music debut in 1996 with the break-out record Blue, a multi-platinum album that netted her two Grammy Awards, making her the youngest recipient in history. She also went on to win three Country Music Awards and 12 Billboard Awards that same year. Her most popular song, “How Do I Live,” made her a cross-over success, selling more than three million copies and spending an unprecedented 69 weeks on the U.S. Hot 100, a record that still remains unbroken.

“I look forward to appearing and performing live on QVC and giving my fans the opportunity to get a sneak peek at my new album Family,” said Rimes.

Family will be available through QVC at 800.345.1515 or www.QVC.com <http://www.QVC.com> while supplies last.

A LOT of people buy things on QVC and they reach a very specific demographic who are inclined to buy.

I think marketing music to this audience is nothing but smart.

Hell, I wouldn't be suprised to see Bose try to package in a clock radio as the next "item"

I agree.

Some people thought trying to sell music in a coffee store was dumb . . .

George O only missed by 20 years, not bad, really.

My daughter just finished reading 1984 and she said, "Dad ... a lot of this stuff is happening -- right now!"

. . . but is stock available in that One Big Corporation? If ya can't lick 'em, invest in 'em.

Good point Charles, I think from the restaurant side it's the company that runs Outback/Bone Fish/etc....

QVC might be one for the media market...
