John Mayer's Continuum is an amazing record

John started off as a bubblegum pop, acoustic guy with catchy songs, but his new album with more blues based stuff not only sounds amazing but his guitar playing on it is incredible. He is one of the few new musicians who can really play and still be hip with the "kids these days".

I completely agree. Mayer has really come into his own as of late and Continuum is just the latest in what I hope will be a long string of amazing albums. You should also check out Mayer's Village Sessions EP as well as the John Mayer Trio.

Enjoy

I got hip to John Mayer via (of all places) Chapelle's Show before Dave freaked out, blew his gig and went to Africa to smoke weed and feel sorry for himself.

I agree - Mayer's music is getting better and better. I hear a LOT of Jimi in him. A white guy Jimi - not the real deal but SRV was a white guy Jimi and he was OK with me!!!

I have one of his records in iTunes at the office and I have periodically noticed me paying attention to them which is significant considering how many songs there are in my main playlist (like 8000).

The idea of finding a new rock artist I like today is a REALLY good thing. I am tired of feeling bad about today's music. I want to talk with people about cool new bands I have found - specifically in the rock genre.

His concert is on one of the HD channels. The guy is tough to watch.

It's weird, when he was younger (25 to 27) he sang with a kind of weird affect that seemed like he had a cleft pallate.

Now that is gone and he sings clearer and he is a little less "preppy" and has longer hair and is "cooler" but his dry sense of humor either works for you or it doesnt. Did you know he does stand up comedy and collects tennis shoes (has hundreds of pairs) and super expensive watches. He does a blog too that is super dry humor and is very funny.. check out his comments on the first Sony Blu-ray player and see if you catch his little Jessica Simpson joke..

I've gotta catch up on my John Mayer but I am at this point impressed and captivated.
Like Jerry, I found out something wuz up with this whispery affected guy who made the little girls squirm when I saw the stuff he did with Chappelle. (Thanks to Bryan Dailey.) F'ing hysterical. They were made for each other like Laurel and Hardy.
Check out on YouTube his reply to Ryan Seacrust on the red carpet when asked about Jessica Simpson. (I'm respecting Mayer so much it makes me think there might be something to Simpson. Other than, well, you know.)
I always admire artists who throw the successful stuff out the window and take big risks. First he got a bit jazzy. Then downright bluesy. Now he's doing Hendrix?! And beautifully.
He's my new renaissance man.
