Default Re: HD Disc Format War Not Over By a Long Shot

I'm a chemical manufacturer. The only time I see a company drastically and unnecessarily drop the price much lower than the competition is almost always a sign of desperation or they will no longer manufacture that product in the near future.

Personally I think Toshiba will approach Sony and license Blu Ray and build both Blu Ray machines and combination Blu Ray/HD machines. If I was Toshiba I would do the latter--keep the customers happy, garner goodwill, and if they are successful (which they should be) in building a better dual format machine than LG and Samsung, it may still be possible for them to turn a pigs ear into a silk purse.

This way they aren't marginalizing HD and they can always spin that we want to do the best thing for all consumers. If they have their best engineers work on this they may well become the largest manufacturer of Hi-Def machines.
