Video and Audio Conversion Implementation Options
I've just purchased a Panasonic TH50PZ750U plasma, a Panasonic DMP-BD30 Blu-Ray and Onkyo TX-SR605 A/V R, all are HDMA 1.3a. I've opted for HDMI 1.3a Category 2 cables (2M)from Monoprice.com. Next on my shopping list is a 5.1 speaker system. During my research, it seems that I have options about which processors to use for audio and video. As an example, I can send native bit stream audio from the DMP-BD30 Blue-Ray to the Onkyo TX-SR605 and let it handle the digital conversions. For Blu-Ray discs, I can have the DMP-BD30 do the video upconverting or send the native resolution to the plasma and have its video processor do the upconversion.
1. How does one decide where the best place to do the video upconverting considering that the video source can be conventional DVD discs, Blu-Ray discs, HD and non-HD TV broadcast content?
2. What are the implications of having different devices do the conversions, am I asking for remote control device chaos?
Thanks, I'm a newbie and my first ever post to a forum, hope I stated it all correctly...
