Default Re: Blu-Ray wins on Black Friday week.

Warner is in business for Warner, not the BDA. Their strategy is long term. They are not in business to make Fox or Lionsgate money. Warner is not run by idiots. They are in business to return profits to the studio. HDM sales are 1% of the video market right now so spare me the 2:1 software sales lead garbage. 2/3 of 1% is nothing. In another words 2/3 of nothing is nothing. They are looking at a way to break out of the niche market with fully backward compatible stand alone players in large numbers.

Look at T3, due to the fact Warner wanted to please everyone with a half finished format they burned 2 encodes onto the bluray disc. Now when trying to go above and beyond by providing an unfinished format the same benefits of hddvd and the discs only play in 1080i unless the IME is playing. So now Warner is doing the right thing and replacing all of those discs. I'm sure this is just another example that will be part of the decision making process.
