Do they function as DVR's?

I am really not sure what I need to record onto Blu-ray.... No shows are that interesting that I want to preserve them....

Take that back, I wish I had preserved the one Nip/Tuck where Christian asked Quintin the famous 'is Chris a girl or a guy?" line just for Quintin's answer! The one line I NEVER believed I'd hear on TV, and still to this day am amazed it got passed the censors!
