There is nothing in the thread to disprove the fact that the 1080i deinterlacing on the Panny 30 is horrible. This may cause some problems with the third Pirates film as it is only 1080i on the BR.

There was 1 or 2 mentions of it doing surprising well at upconverting SD DVD. However, the player fails every deinterlacing test with the BR and DVD Silicon Optix Test discs.

I like the Samsung 1400. It works perfectly in my system and loads disc fast. Faster than the Panny 30 IMO.
