Great point.

I think people don't treat placment and room acoustics with enough weight. Before you pop for the $20,000 speakers - consider $2,000 for room acoustics and you might do yourself a SERIOUS favor. THEN buy the expensive speakers. Things as simple as putting some absorbtion on the first order reflections (just to the side of the speakers and a little in front of them) as well as on the ceiling above and in front of the speakers - can really improve sound. Something as simple as adding carpeting or a second subwoofer can also make a HUGE difference.
