Years ago I used to routinely shop the want ads for high end audio for deals like these.

My best have been a complete system of Aragon 4004 MkII amp, 24K pre, Proceed PCD 2 (a player I sold and it cost me seven times as much to come close to it's sound!) and the original B&W 802 Matrix's with a rack and MIT cable for $1800. I also got a McIntosh C28 pre and 2105(?) amp that I got for $400 and sold. The pre went to Japan for $1,200 alone and when I told the guy (he wanted Global Express mail) it would cost ~$300, he sent the cash! I suspect it is sitting in some display curio somewhere...
