I decided the BDP23fd would be my first BR player. The AV is an Elite VSX56TXi; i.e., old and w/out HDMI.

For Video I'll connect the BR directly to the TV using HDMI and for Audio, the MULTI-CHANNEL analog outs on the BR to the AV's analog in.

I know True HD and DTS Master Audio is recorded in 7.1 so when connected to a 5.1 system what happens to the info intended for speakers 6/7? Do either the BR or the AV downmix those signals into 5.1? Which one?

Just trying to understand how these things work!!!
