How old was your Onkyo? I have a Denon 3000 that is pretty old. It works fine, but doesn't decode much of anything.

I'm mystified by the same question as you. The Onkyo 906 is too expensive and older models by anyone don't seem to handle all the cool new data formats. In your price range, you might want to look at the Denon AVR1910 7.1-Channel Multi-Zone Home Theater Receiver with 1080p HDMI Connectivity. This was just released so I'd be interested if anyone has set one up yet.
