Default Pre-Pro needed for my new Sonus-Faber Elipsas

Pre-Pro needed for my new Sonus-Faber Elipsas

My wife got a great deal on a pair of Sonus-Faber Elipsa speakers. (yes, high WAF - lucky guy)

Problem is, now we have to upgrade the rest of our 10 year old system to take advantage of the speakers.

Here’s what we already have and are keeping:
. Five Marantz MA500 monoblock amps (180W into 4 ohms))
. Oppo 981 DVD (may upgrade to Oppo BDP-83 for Blu-Ray)
. Panny TH65PZ850U 1080p plasma

Would use the Oppo for CD source (unless you think that's a bad idea)

Need a replacement for my old Marantz AV600 preamp/tuner.

Mostly listen to classical, jazz, vocals, opera.

Am most interested in deliciously high quality 2-channel audio (rather than in 12.1, 7.1 or even 5.1 HT - but might get a decent 3rd channel center speaker for DVDs; already have some mediocre rear surround spkrs in the ceiling)

Video should have HDMI In/Out. We get HD from Comcast, and some upconversion of SDTV from digital cable would be important (unless I can run that through my Oppo scaler?).

Price should be around $2-3K (eg Marantz AV8003?) rather than $4-6K, although would be happy with a high-end something used from Audiogon (Anthem AVM50 or D2? )

Your advice please.

Ken
