I would be interested in finding out if the audio improvement is mainly attributed to the transport or the processor. You changed more than one variable at a time. I'm sure, however, both make a difference.
I own a Sony S300 and Sony PS3 60GB (which are currently out of the rack), and will try them out via HDMI to the AVP. I'll report back with my findings.
I absolutely love the BT2500, and its sound quality really impressed me with both movie soundtracks and CD's. The sound it gave easily matched my Sony XA20ES CD player, and that's no small feat. So even if I didn't own my XA20ES I would be very happy using the BT2500 as a CD transport as well. And on top of its stellar performance, this machine is gorgeous.
