Default Universal Studios Home Entertainment Pulls Out of HD DVD - Now Supports Blu-ray

HD DVD last original studio supporter has pulled out and now backs Blu-ray. President of Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Craig Kornblau, has announced that Universal will be switching gears and supporting the Blu-ray format. The release of this news has been expected for quite sometime following "Blu-Friday," in which Warner Bros. announced exclusive support for Blu-ray. This annoucement follows hot on the heels of Toshiba's release, which stated they are pulling out of HD DVD.

"While Universal values the close partnership we have shared with Toshiba, it is time to turn our focus to releasing new and catalog titles on Blu-ray," said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

"The path for widespread adoption of the next-generation platform has finally become clear. Universal will continue its aggressive efforts to broaden awareness for hi-def’s unparalleled offerings in interactivity and connectivity, at an increasingly affordable price. The emergence of a single, high-definition format is cause for consumers, as well as the entire entertainment industry, to celebrate." is offline   Reply With Quote
