All you say may be true, but all I want is the following:
-At least bitstreaming support for all advanced audio codecs
-An ethernet connection for firmware upgrades and potential 2.0 compliance
-Proper LFE levels for PCM over HDMI, which the Panasonic players, seemingly the best on the market, do not currently offer
-A price point of under $300
If HD DVD had to go away, I would have preferred it stay around until the war spurred Blu-ray to deliver these features at this price point. So far, it hasn't happened.
I am an HD DVD supporter. I do not hate Blu-ray, and I do feel my expectations are reasonable. Realistically, in what time frame do you think the right Blu-ray player will be there for me?
