Now it is possible with very difficult loads (meaning very low speaker impedances below 2 ohms) it is possible. Buitwhy would would someone buy very difficult loads for their speaker system?

Well, Greg, I could do that, in my system. When I changed my old vdh speaker cables with my current Kubala (mid-line, worth every penny in my opinion) the difference was as big as I had changed my amplifier or my source.
My speakers are a 4ohm load btw.
And some people I know are doing such tests. they also tested blindly the infamous Oppo 980
