avielo optix 3D DLP Projector Preview
Love it or hate it, 3D was inescapable at CEDIA Expo 2010, and alongside their premium and high end projector competitors, Norwary's projectiondesign has announced the avielo optix 3D projector.  “With more and more 3D feature films now playing at every movie theater, it is only natural that consumers are getting excited about having 3D in their homes, too,” said Anders Løkke, projectiondesign's International Marketing & Communications Manager. “The avielo optix 3D DLP® projector from avielo by projectiondesign is our solution to this customer need – allowing convincing 3D images to be created in a home-theater environment, without compromising image quality, brightness, contrast, or consistency of color rendition.”Based on the RESI award-winning dual lamp, single chip DLP avielo optix projector, this 3D model not only includes the SpectraCal Cal MAN calibration software and projectiondesign's BrilliantColor (aka RealColor) technology for ...

avielo optix SuperWide 235 DLP Projector Preview
Ever wanted to see a constant height projection system without the need a brightness-reducing adapter kit and auxiliary lens?  Norway's projectiondesign avielo optix SuperWide 235 single chip DLP projector might just be for you.  It is the world's first projector to display 2.35:1 content natively at a 1080p vertical resolution (2538 x 1080p to be precise).  And since this is an avielo series projector, we can also assume these projectors will include a dual lamp system, SpectraCal Cal MAN calibration software, and projectiondesign's BrilliantColor (or RealColor) technology for improved illumination efficiency and a wide color gamut. Before the avielo optix SuperWide 235, the only way to watch a 2.35:1 aspect ratio film was the combination of an adapter lens and a video scaler, a process which, according to project design, can reduce measured picture brightness by up to 10% even with ...

Apple TV Review (2010)
While Apple dominated in the mobile market and is thriving with their line of laptops, they have never been able to grasp the home theater crowd with their video solutions, namely the first two revisions of the Apple TV (reviews here and here). Over three years from the release of the original Apple TV, Apple announced a new version of the Apple TV in combination with revisions of the iPod Touch and iPod Nano lines.  This smaller, sleeker version of the Apple TV was priced considerably less than the MSRP of the original unit and the technology has changed dramatically.  Along with the announcement of the Apple TV, Steve Jobs and company are taking a hard stance on standard pricing for content, very similar to their pricing decisions with music over iTunes.  Television HD content is priced at 99 cents ...

Audience ClairAudient 2 + 2 Loudspeakers Review
Audience LLC was formed in 1997 and is located in San Marcos, CA. In their relatively short life span, they have become one of the elite designers and manufacturers of state of the art signal and power cables. They also produce highly regarded power conditioners, high resolution capacitors, and the Auric Illuminator, an optical disc enhancement kit.  My only experience with Audience products is the Auric Illuminator, which I found to work wonders on compact discs and DVD's to improve resolution and help with problematic discs.Audience has also recently entered the loudspeaker market. Far from being satisfied with a conventional product, they have decided to take a different path. This approach was formed over a long period of time, with much trial and error, proprietary technology, and determination. Add to that a unique vision. Audience has gotten a lot of ...

Apple iPod Touch Review (2010)
The iPod Touch has been the staple of Apple’s iPod lineup for the past few years, specifically for those looking for all the functionality of the iPhone, just without the hefty AT&T contract.  Apple recently announced their new lineup of iPods, releasing revamped versions of the Shuffle, a much smaller iPod Nano and a version of the Touch that holds many similarities to the iPhone 4.  Much of the focus on upgrading this year’s version of the Touch came on the internal hardware side, which also allowed for new features to pop up on the Touch (heavily supported by new apps).  Features:There’s a ton of new functionality in the iPod Touch, mostly due to the inclusion of the hardware from the iPhone 4.  You are going to find the speedy A4 CPU powering the Touch as well as 512MB of ...
