Miller & Kreisel 5.1 Speaker System (S-85/S-85C/MX-105)
Introduction When considering a satellite and subwoofer combo for your home theater, Miller and Kreisel should be at the forefront of your list of quality manufacturers to consider. Now in its 25th year of manufacturing home and professional electronics, the innovative M&K has largely been responsible for the now mandatory stand-alone subwoofer craze in home theater applications. Their ongoing commitment to the sub and satellite approach to home theater has lead to the production of the S-85 satellites ($695), S-85Ccenter channel ($395) and MX105 subwoofer ($995) featured in this review. The satellites and center speaker share 5 1/4 inch drivers along with a 1 inch soft-dome tweeter and have a frequency range of 85 Hz - 20KHz + - 2dB. The MX105 sub operates from 22 Hz -125 Hz + - 3 dB and sports dual push pull 12 inch drivers moved into action by a 125 watt internal amplifier. The satellites and center channel angled ...

Aura LSCP-2 Line Source Cinema Package
Introduction Not so long ago, owning a palatable home theater loudspeaker system was cost-prohibitive and somewhat room-dependent. Aura Sound has broken down these barriers by developing the LSCP-2 Line Source Cinema Package at a very affordable $799.99. Aura Systems, makers of the Aura Sound cinema speaker systems, has yielded 20 patents over the years in the pursuit of economical but excellent loudspeaker performance. The LSCP-2 is no exception. Four identical two-way bass reflex, LSB-527M, bookshelf speakers utilize 5.25-inch high-definition polypropylene woofers and the patented Line Source monopole tweeter to fill out the mains and surrounds. These speakers are magnetically shielded, allowing close proximity to TVs, and include a proprietary low-frequency alignment design, resulting in a low, tight bottom end from a small enclosure. For controlled dispersion and increased handling for maximum bass output, the LSC-537M center channel speaker doubles up on the 5.25-inch ...

Bowers & Wilkins 604 Loudspeakers
Introduction With a slim footprint, sleek design and a dynamically powerful sound the B&W 604 tower loudspeakers fit right into any number of modern systems and do equally as well in just about any home decor. Standing 40 inches tall with a 3-way compliment including a B&W metal dome tweeter, one bright yellow colored B&W Kevlar 7 inch mid-range and two 7 inch Cobex drivers, these B&Ws have the ability to put out some serious musical energy while maintaining a razor sharp image. The 604s are capable of an imaging you would expect from a high end loudspeaker costing many thousands of dollars. B&Ws have not historically been known for their high efficiency ratings, however these 90 dB 604s can rock and roll on a 50 watt-per-channel Rotel integrated amp. Additionally, the 604s are not very placement critical. In setup we were forced to place them closer to a corner than we would have liked but ...

Wilson Audio WATT Puppy 5.1 Loudspeakers
Introduction The Wilson WATT Puppy is a truly classic loudspeaker design. Developed in the mid 1980s by David Wilson as professional location monitors, Wilson WATT Puppies have become the high end industry’s standard for music, theater and 35 millimeter film playback. The elements that make the WATT Puppy so special are complicated. First off, the sound is phenomenal. "Punchy," "crisp" and "extremely dynamic" just start to describe the event of listening to music or film soundtracks through WATT Puppies. The size, with its slender footprint, makes the speaker welcome in living rooms as well as mastering labs. Exotic paint and wood finishes give you the opportunity to either have your WATT Puppies blend into your décor, as they do in my room with my Asian Pearl paint job, or you can choose to have them be the focal point of your room with, say, a Lamborghini Fly Yellow finish. The WATT Puppy System is a two-piece ...
