10 Blu-ray Players Worth Picking Up Today
It was all so much easier a few years back when there were only a few different Blu-ray players to choose from.  Now the market is flooded with countless players from makers on the low and high end of things.  Even manufacturers that don't typically dabble in electronics have moved into the Blu-ray player market.  To make the whole process easier, we've compiled a list of ten Blu-ray players that are worth picking up right now.  Ultimately, of course the choice depends on your needs, so we've pulled from a range of prices and uses.Sony BDP-S570  (detailed review)Sony's excellent standalone player comes in at the sweet spot for Blu-ray pricing.  At a list price of $250 it's costly enough to pack some needed features, but not so much that regular folks balk at the cost.  It's a slick looking player ...

Netflix Versus Hulu Plus
Regarding consumable media such as feature length films and television shows, the paradigm is slowly shifting from using physical media into the downloadable realm.  Made popular by the DVR, more consumers want to see television shows on their own schedule,  Ironically, the need for services like Tivo is waning as more television shows and movies are being played online through services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon on Demand, etc…  Recently, the young Internet media giant Hulu announced a premium service for their website called Hulu Plus.  Hulu Plus offers expanded access to Hulu’s library of shows from ABC, FOX and NBC.  (Hulu is currently in talks with CBS for access to their library of shows)  The service is priced at $10 a month and can be access on home theater PCs, Internet enabled TVs / Blu-ray players, the Playstation 3 ...

Blu-ray Discs to Showcase Your New Sound System
You've picked out some new speakers, a new receiver, an amp, or even an entirely new sound system.  It's a great feeling, and it's something that you want to share.  If your Blu-ray collection isn't up to snuff, you'll have a hard time doing it.  Comedies and indie flicks are fine to watch, but they're not going to give your system the workout it needs. With that in mind, we've compiled a list of some of the absolute best Blu-ray discs, and the best scenes from each, to use while showing off your new system.  These are not only top quality as far as accurate sound reproduction goes, but they've got those dynamic moments that really make an impression. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen 'Revenge of the Fallen' was by no stretch of the imagination a great movie.  It'd even be ...

Tweak-O-Files: Volume 4
Yet again, I've combed the internet and recruited my most neurotic audiophile acquaintances to bring you some of the most interesting, unusual, and frankly, questionable high end audio tweaks. As always, I note when I have had first hand experience with a particular tweak.  You can read parts 1, 2 and 3 by clicking the numbers.Quietrock:Quietrock drywall maybe more than a tweak, it may be the foundation of your listening room. It is sound proof sheet rock that will help to isolate your dedicated listening room from outside noise, and conversely, will allow other to live in peace during your concert level listening sessions. I had it installed in my listening room to great results. Pricing varies. Netflix Goes Mobile, iPhone 4 Hits the WWDC
Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference kicked off this morning with Steve Jobs keynote.  The highlight of the conference is the impending release of the new iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 4.  Here's a breakdown of the hardware upgrades to this generation of the iPhone:The camera has been upgraded to a 5-Megapixel model with a 5x digital zoom.  It also records HD video at 720p as well (30 fps).  The iPhone 4 comes with a LED flash on the rear camera which can stay on during video recording.  Video can be edited within the new iMovie application as well ($4.99).  Apple also stressed that their "backside illuminated sensor" would improve picture quality rather then increasing Megapixels on the rear camera. The iPhone 4 also comes with a front facing camera for self-portraits or the "FaceTime" video chat tool.  Facetime is only compatible over Wi-Fi ...
