In Season Three, “Highlander: The Series” really began hitting its
stride, deepening both the mythology about its 400-year-old hero Duncan
MacLeod (Adrian Paul) and the world of Immortals in general. This DVD
boxed set more than does it justice, not just in terms of gorgeous
picture quality and highly respectable sound (though these are
important), but also in terms of bonus features. Every single one of
the 22 episodes comes with its own mini-making-of documentary, some as
long as 15 minutes, along with outtakes and deleted scenes from the
episode. Eight episodes also feature audio and video commentary from a
wide variety of folks involved with the show, including star Paul and
line producer Ken Gord. Plenty of series are now coming out in boxed
sets that ...

Most people probably know Jack Black from his surprise smash hit film
“School of Rock” and the recent Farrelly Brothers picture “Shallow
Hal,” but before Black was a Hollywood leading man, he was, and still
is, the voice behind the self-dubbed “greatest band in the world”
Tenacious D, consisting of Black and Kyle Gass. With a short-lived HBO
series, a handful of television and movie appearances including
“Bio-Dome” and “Saturday Night Live,” to name just a few, Tenacious D,
known to many fans as simply “The D,” garnered a huge underground buzz
in the late ‘90s. Their irreverent brand of acoustic folk rock fused
with a warped sense of humor sent record company executives scrambling
to sign this truly brilliant comedy duo. Epic Records landed the deal
and have been ultra-supportive of the ...

It’s certainly easy to see why “The Osbournes” has been such a success,
both critically and commercially. The reality show that follows the
Osbourne family’s daily activities is funny, endearing, outrageous and
a fascinating look at a very famous music icon. Sharon Osbourne is the
heart of the family and the program, and taken together with Jack and
Kelly’s histrionics, it sets up many opportunities for Ozzy to just be
Ozzy.

Most people recognize Michael Crichton as the creator of “Jurassic
Park” or “Timeline” or any of a dozen other hot movies. Most forget
that he trained to be a doctor or even know that he, at six feet nine
inches tall, played basketball in college on a scholarship. In addition
to a number of movies, Crichton also created a hit television show,
then took 20 years to find the people and the network to put the show
together.

Fans
of "Highlander: The Series" generally look back on Season Two
(1993-1994) as the period when the action/adventure/fantasy series was
finding its own voice, establishing itself more firmly as an entity
that didn’t simply reiterate the themes of its feature film roots but
began inventing some new, resonant and often wildly entertaining
mythology. On the flip side, Season Two was also plagued by edicts from
on high – that is, individuals and/or ...
