Right when “Commander In Chief” was cancelled, this fascinating
exploration of the first female presidency was just starting to heat
up. President MacKenzie Allen, played by Geena Davis, was fixing to
square off with Donald Sutherland’s Nathan Templeton character, her
conservative arch political nemesis. But before this unusual run for
The White House even heard the starting gun, it was all over. Poor
ratings cast the final and deciding “no” vote for this prematurely
cancelled program. What a shame.

If you’re skeptical about “Commander in Chief”, I don’t blame you. I
was too. The premise of this ABC TV program, now on hiatus, imagines
the first female president of The United States. It smacks of political
correctness and a feminist agenda. It conjures up visions of a Spice
Girl starring in “The West Wing”. It suggests freakin’ Girl Power in
The White House, for heaven’s sake! The good news is that none of these
nightmarish summations describe the actual program. By the time you’re
finished viewing these ten episodes, it won’t matter at all that this
president was portrayed by a woman. Instead, you’ll be hooked on a
smart ...

“Grey’s
Anatomy” began life as a mid-season replacement series on television in
March 2005, then became one of the most highly-advertised television
shows of this year’s Super Bowl with its “Code Black” episodes. The
first season is comprised of only nine episodes, but those nine
episodes set the characters, the world of Seattle Grace Hospital and
the tone for a series that should have a long run on television because
it hits the high points of emotional context, interesting medical
procedures, characters that feel three-dimensional, crackling dialogue
and an organic overall plot growth (read soap opera tendencies, but
remember these very tendencies are what drives hit shows like “Lost,”
“Desperate Housewives” and ...

"Scrubs" is headed into a welcomed fifth season in January 2006, during
a time when many television shows don't even make it through their
initial order of episodes. The 30-minute comedy with moments that touch
hearts, all set to outstanding music scores, has been favorably
compared to “M.A.S.H.” Located in an actual hospital, "Scrubs" totally
has the look and feel of the environment. Nothing in the show feels
like a set. Instead, we get the impression that we’re looking into the
inner, if somewhat zany, workings of an actual medical facility under a
full head of steam.
