‘The Breakfast Club,’ as most folks know, is director/writer John
Hughes’ tale of five disparate high school students who bond during a
nine-hour Saturday detention period. Andy the jock (Emilio Estevez),
Brian the brain (Anthony Michael Hall), John the delinquent (Judd
Nelson), Claire the princess (Molly Ringwald) and Allison the kook
(Ally Sheedy) imagine they have nothing in common. However, as they
first pick on each other over perceived defects, slights and in
reaction to attacks, they start to open un and eventually bond.
‘The Breakfast Club’ touched a lot of people in its day – it gets three
stars for its undeniable effect on a large portion of the audience.
However, if one isn’t prepared to surrender to Hughes’ universe on its
own terms, ...

Attempting to become the first woman to enter the elite combat unit of
the U.S. Navy Seals Lt. Jordan O'Neil (Demi Moore) discovers first-hand

"A Thousand Acres" is an ambitious if not always successful
re-imagining of Shakespeare's "King Lear," set in the present on an
Iowa farm and told from the point of view of the two eldest daughters,
here called Ginny (Jessica Lange) and Rose (Michelle Pfeiffer).
Director Jocelyn Moorhouse ("How to Make an American Quilt") creates a
good sense of environment overall, starting with a striking
cloud-scudded sky in Chapter Two, but this film is definitely aimed at
drama buffs rather than technophiles

Dimension Home Video
MPAA rating:
R
starring:
Jackie Chan, Michelle Khan (Yeoh), Maggie Cheung
release year:
1996
reviewed by:

Jackie Chan does not actually turn to the camera at the beginning of
'Supercop' and say, "Hello, I am here to bring you fun." However, that
is clearly his mission, and he accomplishes it, as always with supreme
grace, agility and an air of blissful friendliness.
'Supercop' is also known as "Police Story III," with Chan as Kevin, a
Hong Kong police officer whose good nature co-exists with extraordinary
athletic ability. Here, Kevin is asked to work with mainland China's
DEA to entrap a vicious drug lord. Kevin's primary colleague is the
formidable Chief of Security Yang (Michelle Khan), who can hold her own
in a fight. Their adventures include prison breaks, gun battles and a
train-top confrontation that ranks with the best.

A new disease has reached epidemic proportions, attacking and killing the children of New York. Entomologist Susan Tyler (Mira Sorvino) uses genetics to find a way to attack the disease's carrier, the common cockroach. She succeeds by creating a hybrid containing termite and manta DNA and this new species kills the roach population by secreting an enzyme that causes the roaches to starve to death. Unfortunately, three years later, Dr. Tyler learns that her genetic species didn't die out in one generation as they were designed to do; instead they have not only bred, but they have evolved exponentially.
