This 15-song collection of techno visuals was drawn from the
seven-volume Happy2bHardcore CD series, featuring psychedelic eye
candy, matched to the hyperactive dance beats of these selected songs.
It’s fun to see how director Vello Vikaus has visualized this music,
yet much of this overview would work far better on a Jumbotron screen
at a rave than it does as an evening of home theater viewing.
Nevertheless, it’s a fun diversion – at least the first few times
through.

About midway through this concert video, Dixie Chicks lead singer
Natalie Maines introduces the song “More Love” by calling it a “good
patriotic song, because we love our country.” But one wonders just how
many country music fans heard her (and actually believed her) when she
made this soothing statement of patriotism, especially in light of all
the controversy surrounding her later remarks about President Bush’s
decision to invade Iraq. Many have strongly questioned the Dixie
Chicks’ patriotism of late, but after watching this live DVD (which was
also shown in an edited version on NBC television as a primetime
special) it’s at least hard to doubt this group’s dedicated love of
acoustic and bluegrass-accented country music.

Wow. Director/co-writer Baz Luhrmann’s fabulous 2001 musical "Moulin
Rouge" has now reached DVD in an extras-laden two-disc set. The added
goodies are great, but the big attraction here is still the movie
itself, just as enveloping in the home environment as in the theatre.
"Moulin Rouge" is almost literally intoxicating in its heady rush of
beautifully-reproduced colors, imagery and pop music, delivered with
soaring delight by a dazzling cast.

Anybody who still needs evidence that dance music should be heard and
not seen ought to spend a little low quality viewing time with this new
Kylie Minogue concert DVD, because sounds that are smokin’ hot on the
dance floor can cool down considerably when extracted from their
nightlife comfort zone. This is why the experience of watching Minogue
sleepwalk through her hits on “Fever – 2002 In Concert ...

You will have to forgive me for reviewing a Christmas record at this
time of year, but after it arrived last month and I gave it a listen, I
wanted to let you know about it straight away.
This excellent album features a stunning lineup of Celtic musicians,
mainly from the U.S., but with at least one born in Scotland. With a
lively combination of well-known Christmas songs arranged in a Scottish
style, and traditional Scottish music and dancing, the album is an
ideal Christmas gift for anyone with a love for the Celtic heritage.
